Today, my siblings and I ventured down to the park to enjoy the last bit of sunshine blooming in Bavaria. After finishing some homework, I strolled over to a tree and laid down. Not to enjoy the shade (which was virtually non-existent) or to sleep, but to relax and observe. Inspired by N.D. Wilson (Author of Notes From The Tilt-a-Whirl) to go outside and just watch. There is so much to see in our Father's creation...it was relaxing. I could go into more detail, but I am just using this little step-stool to get into the topic I wanted to cover in the post today.
Just looking around the park and watching the little kids laughing cheerfully, and watching the sunshine filter through the trees; I can't believe how people just deny the fact that God is here. And very much alive. His forgiveness and mercy is overwhelming. And the fact that we continually look the other way and ignore Him, is heart rending.
Speaking of the amount of forgiveness that God has given us, how is it excusable that we even dare to think of not forgiving someone? Think about it, God loves us so much that He sent His only Son that we may be forgiven.
Why do we find it hard to forgive? One very simple answer: We are fallen. We try, but we always sin eventually. But this is no excuse to not forgive those who have wronged us. Do not hold grudges. Vengeance is the Lord's. It is like the parable in the New Testament, where the King forgives the debt of one of his leading servants. But then he (the leading servant) immediately turned around and throws a lowly servant in jail for not paying him back the debt he owed. But when the King caught wind of it, He punished the wrongdoer and released the lowly servant.
We are not allowed to hang on to grudges. There is no excuse. Forgive.
