Law Is Love

Something in Omnibus class that we discussed today rang a bell in my head.  Like, "Oh hey..  possible blog post opportunity right there."  So here it goes.

When we hear the phrase, "The Law of God."  What image is sparked by this phrase in our brain?  What flashed through my head is a picture of God on His Judgment seat and He is ready to deal out hardcore judgments.  The type of thing that a Judge would do.. that is to judge.

But this angry God that I think of, is that the real image that the Law of God should be providing?  Is the law there to point out our weaknesses?  Or is it there for something else?

God put the Law in place for us to not only show where we fall short, but also to show us the need for a Savior.  And the Father fulfills this need by sending a Messiah.  He sends His only begotten Son to take our place on the cross to accept the faults and sins that should be ours.  He loves us so much that He sacrifices the Prince of Peace, and gives us stepping stones to walk over the torrent of the raging river of sin and death.  He gives us the Law, because He loves us, and that He wants to gather His straying children into His arms and bring them to the shelter of His presence.  He loves us through His law.
