Blue Okctober

What a fantastic journey!  A journey 29 years in the making.  It's definitely had it's ups and a whole lot of downs.  But the past three weeks have had me and thousands of others on cloud nine.  Being only seventeen, I've only experienced part of this long drought, but my parents have seen it all.  I haven't ever really gotten into baseball.  I've enjoyed watching it, but never one of my top sports.  But the Kansas City Royals have shown how exciting baseball actually is.  It has been incredible.

In 1985, George Brett led us to a crown.  29 years later, we were trailing in the wild card game against the Athletics, and somehow, miraculously we fought back and won!  We were going to the playoffs!  In El Paso, we heard the fireworks going off in Kansas City through the radio.  My dad did a happy dance.

I would've just been happy with them playing hard, even if they didn't advance.  But they quickly swept the opposing teams in the ALDS and ALCS.  They won 11 straight playoff games (combined with the 1985 series!)  They were going to WS once again!

And then there was one.

After exchanging blows, the San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals would be playing game 7.  The last game 7 in the world series was played in 2002.  This game was a heck of a game.  But the Royals lost 3-2.  We won't forget.

The crowd at KC was "electric."

The Royals have us excited.

Well done, Royals!  You're young, and just gained a whole lot of experience.  Our city is proud of you!  Ready for next year :)
