The Psychosis of America

psy-cho-sis
noun

"a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality."

The United States of America has been sent through the ringer time after time.  There seems to be no end.  Many have predicted that this will be resolved after Election Day.  But will it really?  In my opinion, whichever of the two candidates win, there will still be national upheaval afterwards.

The psyche of America has been beleaguered to the point that we no longer know what is up and what is down.  We have become like that great city of Ninevah who, "do not know their right hand from their left...”  We no longer know how to discern fact from fiction, truth from falsehood,  and our own imagination from external reality.  In short, we are lost in a tangled web of lies with no hope of pulling ourselves out by our bootstraps.

It seems very bleak.  You would be mad to have hope.

I guess I'm a madman then.

Our problem has been our perceived solution.  I use the word 'perceived' because we lack the insight and wisdom to understand.  If we truly understood these times in which we are floundering, then we would know that man alone cannot fix this situation.  We are not up for the task.  Thank God.  We have sought out the gods of government and society to solve our problems.  But these idols are man-made and they are worthless.  Why are we surprised that this solution has come up short?

"...if you transgress the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them. Then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land that he has given to you.” (Joshua 23:16)

It is a simple fix for us.  Repent and turn away from our sins.  The progressivism that says that we can solve society's problems without external help does not understand man's fundamental nature.  We tried striking out on our own in the Garden, but that resulted in the curse of all mankind.

Perhaps it is time for another solution?
