Never Satisfied

Today, my family and I were shopping up at Graph (a much bigger base, which has a much bigger PX than Hohenfels) and we were in the shoe section.  My younger brother was trying on some shoes (Sambas, which are extremely cool, and are created for smooth people); my youngest sister was sitting in the cart chattering away, when she suddenly glanced to her left and let out this garbled, "I want."  She was stretching for some random shoe she had just barely laid eyes on, and immediately wanted it.

I just stared at her.  Really?  It starts so young.  Envy.  We cannot have enough.  To quote Over the Hedge, "For humans, enough is never enough!"  Unfortunately, this is very true.  As humans, one of our greatest faults is envy, we just gotta have it.  Why do they get it, and not me?  But mom, it's only 500 dollars..  So many petty little reasons why we have to have what we want.  Or what we think we need.

Stop.  Remember.  We have all that we need.  Whether poor or rich.  Tall or small.  Ripped or scrawny.  We have all our needs in Christ.  He loves us.  He fills that gaping chasm in our broken hearts, and He spilled His blood so that we might live.  Forever.  What more could we possibly want?  He forgave all of our sins.

We do Him an injustice when we lust after other things.  Be satisfied in Christ.  He is the Eternal Fulfillment. "..and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with the fullness of God." (Ephesians 3:19)  Be filled.
