And then there was one!  

This year we had some pretty great submissions, but Joshua Waitman was the one who pulled it out in the end.  Below are pictured other examples of his talent.  (First one is the one he won with.)

FPC 2017 Announcement

Can we call this annual?  It's close to.  This would be the third time we've done this in the past four years.  We're doing pretty well!  We took a sabbatical for my freshman year, because I had no idea what I was doing with my life.  But now we're back.

What am I talking about?  Good question:

Four years ago, I experimented with this blog's first Fall Photography Contest.  And I'm pleased to announce that it is back again this year!

What are the parameters?  What are the prizes?  What is the due date?

Good questions.  Well, much like in previous contests, the rules are:

1.  You just need to submit one photo.
2.  The photo has to be taken by you.  (I hope this was obvious.)
3.  It should have the theme of fall.  (Which is also somewhat self-explanatory.)
4.  Once taken, email me at samwiseonabike@gmail.com.  (Yes, that is my actual email.)
5.  The due date is:  Thursday, October 12 11:55 PM PT.

Once submitted, I will air it them all out, so that you all can vote.  The voting process isn't difficult.  I'll post all the photos on the 13th, and you will have ONE week to get all of your votes in.  One like/favorite=one vote.  (You can vote on different platforms, so theoretically, you could vote for yourself three different times.)

Prizes?

The winner will receive a $20 gift card to the establishment of their choice, and also a blog post showcasing more of their photography!

FPC Winner

About three weeks ago, I opened up a competition (or contest, if you will) on fall photography.  And there was a great turnout!  The photos really did catch fall in one picture.  It was all very enjoyable to watch as the submissions filed in.  There are some great photographers out there.

After all the submissions were turned in,  I released them to social media to let the masses decide the victor.  It was very close between three photos, but this one came out in first place:

Kaitlynn Smith submitted it!  This was quite the masterpiece to capture in one snapshot.  And this was the first place winner. 

Just like last year's contest, I asked her to submit more photos so I could show some of her talent on my blog.  Kaitlynn willingly complied.  So here are a few samples of her artistry with a camera:

Annual FPC

It's that time of year again!

Last fall I had a fall photography contest (FPC, ingenious, I know), and it was quite fun!  I don't know about you, but fall gets me in the mood for raking leaves, watching football, and drinking apple cider.  There is just something in the air of autumn that really gets one excited for the coming holidays.  What better way to kick off the season then trying to capture the essence of autumn in one picture?

And that is what this contest is all about.  The rules are simple (much like last year):

1.  The photo needs to be about fall.

2.  And it has to be yours.

3.  Once you have a photo you like, you need to submit it by October 17th.  Submissions need to be in by 11:59 CT.

Once you get a photo you like, email them to me at: samwiseonabike@gmail.com.  Once all the submissions are in by October 17th, I'll post them on Facebook, Instagram, and Google plus.  Those who garners the most combined likes will be the declared victor.

The prize?  The one who wins will submit to me 5-6 more photos that he or she took of fall, and those will be show-cased in a post all by themselves.  And in addition to this, they will win a $10 amazon gift card.
